Simply Spanish is designed for those who would like to start their own business (part-time or full-time) for under $1,000. Simply Spanish curriculum can easily be used by intermediate Spanish speakers. Fluency in Spanish is not a requirement in order to use this curriculum, a couple years of beginning spanish is sufficient. Plans are written in English with key words and vocabulary in Spanish.

During the summer, families look for opportunities for their children to
be involved in camps! Therefore, by demand, Ms. Jen created Simply
Spanish Summer Camp©. This three-week camp is full of cultural
learning based on exciting themes and various Latin countries!
Over five years of writing and teaching this curriculum has brought it to
a refined and ready state for others to enjoy. Ms. Jen wanted to share the
opportunity to teach young children Spanish and offering this curriculum
was the way to help others do the same.
After moving to Florida, Ms. Jen found that many families wanted to learn
Spanish, but the opportunities were limited. So, she began writing Simply
Spanish©. She found that many parents wanted their children to begin
learning Spanish earlier than most public and private schools provide.
Therefore, the need for a fun, upbeat curriculum came to her attention.
Now, hundreds of children each year are beginning their second language
learning using Simply Spanish©.
Ms. Jen began her second language learning as an adult. She travelled
to various Latin countries and worked with migrant workers with English
being taught as a second language. She learned a lot of her Spanish
conversationally.

Circle Time: Feliz Dia de Accion de Gracias! Happy Thanksgiving! Go around the
circle and take turns telling the person to our left Feliz Dia de Accion De
Gracias!
Activity: We all have something to be thankful for! Gracias por…. Everyone gets
to say something.
Craft: Half sheet of construction paper with the words “Gracias por” written on
the top. Write “Mi familia” on one side and draw a line down the middle
of page (up and down), then write “la comida” on the other side of line.
Kids draw a picture of their family and then food they like. As they draw
say “gracias por mi familia” y “gracias por la comida.” Then each child
shares their drawing.
Review: Sing the song Dias de Gracias using fingers for the numbers.
Circle Time: This month is special because of a holiday. What holiday? Give clues
where needed. All of the days leading up to Thanksgiving we can give
thanks! We are going to do fun projects for…(with a grand voice) El dia
de accion de gracias!
Song: Teach the Diez Dias De Gracias song to the tune of Ten Little Indians.
Review the numbers through ten and explain dias de gracias. (Un dia,
tres dias de gracias, cuatro dias, cinco dias, seis dos dias, dias de
gracias, siete dias, ocho dias, nueve dias de gracias….DIEZ dias de
gracias!) Sing in English first.
Craft: Have “Dias de Gracias” written on the top of a half sheet of white paper.
Write the numbers 1,2,3 with a box around each number then “de gracias”
written after. Next line 4, 5, 6, de gracias the same way. The number ten
should be written at the bottom with dias de gracias written after. Kids use
anaranjada, amarillo, y café to color squares around boxes as we practice
the song.
There are specialized songs written for Simply Spanish, a list of words to the songs (in
English and Spanish) is provided with the curriculum. A CD with all the songs will be
included with the curriculum.
Each week session includes an objective page that is the week's objective, a list of new
vocabulary and a list of supplies.
The plans include themes centered around the seasons and holidays through out the year.
There are themes interspersed like family, clothing, food, colors, etc. All the plans are
outlined according to circle time, activities, crafts, songs, or review.
The curriculum is set to run 9 months beginning the first week of September through the
last week in May (excluding Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, and Spring Break weeks).
Each session is set up to run for two half-hour sessions per week. Those sessions can be
combined into one one-hour session per week. All words on activities and crafts are
pre-written by the teacher so that pre-readers and pre-writers can learn Spanish
conversationally.
Simply Spanish© is an easy, step-by-step curriculum for conversational Spanish. No reading or
writing is required for any of the plans (unless the teacher chooses to incorporate it for
older children).
Session One
Intro: Begin with Hola. Then tell them to make a friend. We ask “What is your name?” (Como te llamas?) and tell them ours: My name is ___ (Me llamo). Kids go around and ask the child on their left. We ask, “How are you?” (Como estas?) Everyone practice! The answer is “I’m fine” (Estoy bien).
Circle Time: We are making a friend. Turn to the child on left and ask “como estas?” and help with answer “estoy bien.” Now that child turns to the left and asks his friend, “como estas” (help if needed) and that child answers. Now, all hands into the middle! After uno, dos, tres, we shout out “Somos amigos!” Do it several times!
Game: Numbers 1-10 with the number chant. Begin crouching down, slowly marching and quietly saying numbers. Get louder and louder while standing on sies. We yell out siete while waving our hands! March with large steps to diez.
Activity Review our Color Song (Amarillo y Rojo). Now introduce the
And song: next two colors (azul y verde) with the color circles. Have them say them as the teacher places them in the area on the floor. The teacher says the color and the kids go to that color.
The teacher sings the next verse to Colors’ Song using azul y verde with actions! (Azul wave hands in the air coloring the sky azul. For verde, make tree branches with hands).
Session Two
Intro: Bring out our new amiga, Amor. Have her review Hola, Como te llamas, Me llamo, Como estas? Estoy bien. Amor does our numbers chant with us.
Song: Kids practice the Color’s Songs with the motions. Teach the new words one section at a time. Practice a few times!
Craft: Go to table. Use washable markers and ½ piece of plain paper divided into four areas labeled in four colors: rojo, amarillo, verde, azul. Tell the kids a color (ie. azul, blue) and find the word written in that color. Have them draw/scribble something in that color in the box. Do our four colors each time saying the phrase from our Colors’ Song.
Wrap up: Use a children’s book about colors (mark our four colors before hand). Turn to the page. Ask “Que color es?” and have them say the phrase from our color song.
Give stickers before dismissal for a job well done!!!

9-9:30=Circle Time: Welcome! Bienvenidos! Buenos Dias! Do circle of friends. Sit in a circle and say “Hola, Me llamo” first in English then in Spanish. Each child holds on to the string and continues to pass it around. We are “a circle of friends.”
Talk about our theme – holidays and festivities. Each day we will talk about a new country. Today is Mexico! (“El pais de Mexico”)
Teach how to say that! Using books from library show pictures of holidays. Talk about how Mexicans celebrate families and religion the most. Today we are focusing on Birthdays! Mexican fiestas are focused on family, friends, music and food. Start showing a mariachi band in the books and say we have to learn one song “Cumpleanos feliz” and we will be a mariachi band!
9:30-10:00= Craft Time: Paint the maracas and add glitter. (Just dip maracas in a baggie half full of colored glitter and rotate the maraca.) Also paint two paper plates. Then put rice inside and staple for tambourines.
10:00-10:30=Snack – Postre (cupcakes) and punch. Sing Cumpleanos Feliz.
10:30-11:30= Piñata. Mix glue with water and glue strips of newspaper on 12” balloons. Cover balloons with three layers of newspaper.
11:30-12:00=Read. Skippy Jon Jones (a popular character in several books perfect for a Mexican theme) or a fun Mexican book. Also, march around the area (even outside) being a mariachi band.

Week 3 – Oh! The Places We Go!
Day One – Spain

9-9:30=Circle Time: Welcome! Buenos Dias! If kids have been in camp – ask them how to make a friend. If not, begin again with me llamo __________.
This week is sooo cool! We are going to be explorers. We are going to explore the land and terrain of 4 different countries! We will discover what makes each country special in the countryside! Today we are going to Spain! Show pictures of countryside of Spain! Each day we are going to make a special map of each country!
9:30-10:15: Activity: Decorate Map! Write Spain in middle of map. Glue on bottom of boat. Draw the masts and color. Make water using blue tissue paper. Glue on little fish around boat.
. Then glue on cotton in middle of map. Using black markers draw a railroad all the way around.
10:15-10:30= Snack Time: pretzels, fruit snacks, juice
10:30-11:15=Craft: Paint Boxes. In Spain, they like to decorate with ornate items on their houses, yards or in cities and courtyards. Paint little boxes with gold paint and glitter. Then glue on gems!
11:15-12:00= Activity: Make railroads! Put kids in groups of 3-6. Using popsicle sticks, place them parallel on table making sides of tracks, using pretzel sticks put 4 across popsicle sticks (this makes one track). Then continue making a long railway! (Kids can begin on one end of table and meet up with others coming from other way of the table).
Welcome to Spanish Camp!!
This is an exciting camp filled with activities, crafts, hands-on fun and based on
cultural education! Are you ready for some helpful information?
Who is this camp for?
This camp is written for kids ages kindergarten through about 3rd grade. (If kids
are 4th-6th the activities can just be adjusted to suit their age!)
How long is the camp?
It is based on a three-week camp. The day runs from 9:00-12:00. Prep is expected
for ½ hour before and after the camp.
What is the general theme of the camp?
The general theme of the camp is to introduce kids to four Latin countries and explore
different aspects of those countries. The four countries are: Peru, Spain, Mexico,
and Costa Rica. Each day of the week one of the four countries is emphasized using
the theme for the week. The three themes are:
Week 1: “Fun, Fun, Fun - Holidays and Festivities Around The Latin World”
Week 2: “Latin Kids Like You- Their Everyday Lives”
Week 3: “Oh the Places We Go – Geography at It’s Best!”
How is the camp set up?
Each week there are four days of plans and the fifth day is a field trip. During each day,
a different country is the focus – but the theme for the week remains the same (holidays,
kids, geography). The field trip is simply to a water area, park, or nearby play area. It is
a day to enjoy new amigos and review vocab in a non-stress environment. It is also a
day to wrap up activities or books if time ran short one day. I usually treat the kids to a
popsicle or ice cream and a small bouncy ball!
What is included in the plans?
The plans include everything needed for each day: specific plans and things to talk about,
explanations of activities, crafts, supply list, snack needed and prep instructions. It is
designed to make it easy to read and understand.
What is needed for the camp that is not
on the daily supply list?
There are general things needed for the camp not on the daily supplies list. These items
are not limited to, but include: plates, forks, spoons, napkins, plastic cups, paper towels,
plastic table covers (for painting), plastic trash bags (to use as smocks), hand sanitizer,
crayons, scissors, glue sticks, tape, etc. (It is good to have bouncy balls, blow-up soccer
balls, and small bottles of bubbles for filler activities in case a day proceeds “quicker”
than expected!)

Simply Spanish for Kids© is copyrighted under U.S. regulations and copyright laws. Therefore, when purchased, one copy is allowed to be printed. Mr. Keith and Mr. Ben at Kids R' Kids on Lynx Paw (off of Lithia-Pinecrest Rd.) continue to be leaders in Second Language Learning by contracting Ms. Jen as a consultant each month. KIDS R KIDS IN LAND O'LAKES has just decided to include their 2-year old room in the Spanish Program. The Friday classes for ages 3-5 will continue to be from 2:30-4:30 and now the 2-year old room will have Spanish from 4:30-5:00.

§ 106. Exclusive rights in copyrighted works38
Subject to sections 107 through 122, the owner of copyright under this title has the exclusive rights to do and to authorize any of the following:
(1) to reproduce the copyrighted work in copies or phonorecords;
(2) to prepare derivative works based upon the copyrighted work;
(3) to distribute copies or phonorecords of the copyrighted work to the public by sale or other transfer of ownership, or by rental, lease, or lending;
(4) in the case of literary, musical, dramatic, and choreographic works, pantomimes, and motion pictures and other audiovisual works, to perform the copyrighted work publicly;
(5) in the case of literary, musical, dramatic, and choreographic works, pantomimes, and pictorial, graphic, or sculptural works, including the individual images of a motion picture or other audiovisual work, to display the copyrighted work publicly; and
(6) in the case of sound recordings, to perform the copyrighted work publicly by means of a digital audio transmission.
§ 106A. Rights of certain authors to attribution and integrity39
(a) Rights of Attribution and Integrity. — Subject to section 107 and independent of the exclusive rights provided in section 106, the author of a work of visual art —
(1) shall have the right —
(A) to claim authorship of that work, and
(B) to prevent the use of his or her name as the author of any work of visual art which he or she did not create;
(2) shall have the right to prevent the use of his or her name as the author of the work of visual art in the event of a distortion, mutilation, or other modification of the work which would be prejudicial to his or her honor or reputation; and
(3) subject to the limitations set forth in section 113(d), shall have the right —
(A) to prevent any intentional distortion, mutilation, or other modification of that work which would be prejudicial to his or her honor or reputation, and any intentional distortion, mutilation, or modification of that work is a violation of that right, and
(B) to prevent any destruction of a work of recognized stature, and any intentional or grossly negligent destruction of that work is a violation of that right.
(b) Scope and Exercise of Rights. — Only the author of a work of visual art has the rights conferred by subsection (a) in that work, whether or not the author is the copyright owner. The authors of a joint work of visual art are coowners of the rights conferred by subsection (a) in that work.
(c) Exceptions. — (1) The modification of a work of visual art which is the result of the passage of time or the inherent nature of the materials is not a distortion, mutilation, or other modification described in subsection (a)(3)(A).
(2) The modification of a work of visual art which is the result of conservation, or of the public presentation, including lighting and placement, of the work is not a destruction, distortion, mutilation, or other modification described in subsection (a)(3) unless the modification is caused by gross negligence.
(3) The rights described in paragraphs (1) and (2) of subsection (a) shall not apply to any reproduction, depiction, portrayal, or other use of a work in, upon, or in any connection with any item described in subparagraph (A) or (B) of the definition of “work of visual art” in section 101, and any such reproduction, depiction, portrayal, or other use of a work is not a destruction, distortion, mutilation, or other modification described in paragraph (3) of subsection (a).
(d) Duration of Rights. — (1) With respect to works of visual art created on or after the effective date set forth in section 610(a) of the Visual Artists Rights Act of 1990, the rights conferred by subsection (a) shall endure for a term consisting of the life of the author.
(2) With respect to works of visual art created before the effective date set forth in section 610(a) of the Visual Artists Rights Act of 1990, but title to which has not, as of such effective date, been transferred from the author, the rights conferred by subsection (a) shall be coextensive with, and shall expire at the same time as, the rights conferred by section 106.
(3) In the case of a joint work prepared by two or more authors, the rights conferred by subsection (a) shall endure for a term consisting of the life of the last surviving author.
(4) All terms of the rights conferred by subsection (a) run to the end of the calendar year in which they would otherwise expire.
(e) Transfer and Waiver. — (1) The rights conferred by subsection (a) may not be transferred, but those rights may be waived if the author expressly agrees to such waiver in a written instrument signed by the author. Such instrument shall specifically identify the work, and uses of that work, to which the waiver applies, and the waiver shall apply only to the work and uses so identified. In the case of a joint work prepared by two or more authors, a waiver of rights under this paragraph made by one such author waives such rights for all such authors.
(2) Ownership of the rights conferred by subsection (a) with respect to a work of visual art is distinct from ownership of any copy of that work, or of a copyright or any exclusive right under a copyright in that work. Transfer of ownership of any copy of a work of visual art, or of a copyright or any exclusive right under a copyright, shall not constitute a waiver of the rights conferred by subsection (a). Except as may otherwise be agreed by the author in a written instrument signed by the author, a waiver of the rights conferred by subsection (a) with respect to a work of visual art shall not constitute a transfer of ownership of any copy of that work, or of ownership of a copyright or of any exclusive right under a copyright in that work.
§ 107. Limitations on exclusive rights: Fair use40
Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 106 and 106A, the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright. In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include —
(1) the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;
(2) the nature of the copyrighted work;
(3) the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and
(4) the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.
The fact that a work is unpublished shall not itself bar a finding of fair use if such finding is made upon consideration of all the above factors.

Children between the ages of 2-8 have the best mental capabilities to learn a new language quickly.
